Cruise through the many waterways, go on adventurous excursions, canoe in the middle of the river and much more. Here you will have a unique opportunity to meet the locals of the Amazon to learn their culture and customs, or why not experiment with some exotic food from the jungle? Going on a cruise in the Amazon is a unique experience, you will have the opportunity to see all different types of environments during the days on the water. You will get to fish for piranhas, go hiking in the rainforest, birdwatch and much more. This is a really cool way to experience the Amazon!

Fundo Casual (L, M)

We are picked up by our transfer when we arrive at the airport in the Amazon city of Iquitos. We eat a packed lunch as we head towards the small river town of Nauta on the Marañon River. When we arrive, we board our boat that will be our home for the next few days, the Delfin III. We are shown to our room with everything we will need for the trip, there is even a private terrace! We begin our journey and can immediately start enjoying the panoramic views from the observation deck. Our guide gives us all the information about the trip in terms of schedule, activities, route, highlights, wildlife and other details so that we can get the most out of our trip. Our first activity is an exciting jungle hike on the Fundo Casual route that takes you deep into the rainforest. Here you will have the opportunity to see exotic animals such as anacondas, rainbow boa constrictors, tarantula spiders and poison dart frogs. When we return to the boat, we enjoy a delicious dinner.

Las Palmas, Yanayacu, Yanayaquillo & Yachay (F, L, M)

We wake up early this morning to enjoy the wildlife in the early morning in Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. There is a great variety of birds and large palm trees. The big highlight is the opportunity to see a parrot in the wild! This day you will also have the opportunity to visit Yanayacu, here you can see black-necked buzzard, heron, kiskadi, Amazon kingfisher, southern tufted caracara and much more. In Yanayaquillo we will paddle a canoe and fish for piranha! In the evening we visit Yachay, a small village where the local people live. We get to know the village shaman, Carola. The role of the shaman is often misunderstood, it is often associated with black magic and spells. These pieces are also part of the shaman’s duties, but they are more varied than that. Here you will learn more about the shaman Carola and life in the village of Yachay.

Yanayaquillo & Confluence (“where the rivers meet”) (F, L, M)

We start the day by navigating the waters of Yanayaquillo, one of the most well-preserved areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This is a popular place to feed dolphins! We will also try piranha fishing. After a delicious lunch, we will see the Confluence, or better known as “where the rivers meet”, where we will see the colors of three different rivers meet. This is considered by many to be the source of the Amazon River. When the sun sets, we will have an excellent opportunity to take delicious sunset photos in the Amazon rainforest. We will also visit a small village of 500 indigenous people. Here we are welcomed with big smiles and friendly people. Here the locals will show you how they live, you will see different processes of cooking and producing ingredients and see a day in the life of a “ribereño”, a really cool experience!

Gangway and the River Animal Rescue Center (F)

In the morning, unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye to our newfound friends and go ashore. We take a transfer from the port of Nauta and head towards the airport in Iquitos. On the way there, we stop at the ACOBIA river animal rescue center. Here you will have the chance to meet manatees (also called manatees) and learn about these amazing and kind animals, and why they are endangered. There are also other animals here that have been taken care of by the center for various reasons. After this educational visit, it is time to head back towards the airport where the crew of Delfin III waves goodbye and we head back to Lima.
